What is Data Modelling?

You’ve not heard about a data model and why it’s important? A data model is a tool that you can use to further understand organisations and complex operations based on the data that it has acquired and transferred during the systems interactions.

Data Modelling is a process of analysing how one data object is related to another data object. This eventually evolves into something that can categorise your data into different concepts.

Different Data Modelling Concepts

1.Conceptual Data Model

Conceptual Data Model shows the relationship from one entity to another and is often abstract and high level by nature. It usually developed for better understanding of business people. It describes organizational semantics minus the reference to technology.

2.Logical Data Model

Logical Model is a more complex type of data model that usually focus on a specific problem. This is often diagrammatic in nature and describes data requirements from the point view of a business.

3.Physical Data Model

Physical Data Model is a representation of the model that will be inside a specific database. This type of model will show structures and relationships between different tables, spreadsheets, and any other options for implementing data.

Data Models help you understand the overall operations of your business more accurately using all the available data that you have gathered overtime. With a well-developed data model, you will have a clear idea on how you can use the information you have to improve your business and serve your customers right.

If you want to learn Data Modeling, a complete data modeling course, with three days of practical techniques for producing conceptual, logical, and physical, relational,  dimensional and NoSQL data models is scheduled for February 25-28,  2018 in Canberra, Australia.
